Mrs Campbell, class teacher, and Mrs Pearce, teaching assistant, welcome you to Year 3.
In Year 3 we believe that most children are ready to become more independent, so please encourage your child to deal with their own coats, bags, lunch boxes, water bottles etc., and to come into the classroom by themselves. We are always around first thing in the morning if you need to talk to us urgently, and please do not hesitate to come in at the end of school if you need a longer discussion, or make an appointment with the school office.
Children do not need pencil cases; everything they require will be provided.
All children will bring home a reading book and reading record. Most children will hopefully also be reading a book of their own with you. Children should be reading with you at home at least three times a week. Other homework includes Maths and Spelling which will be given out on Fridays. Maths is to be completed at the weekend and handed in on Monday. A list of spellings will be in the Homework Diary for your child to practise during the week. In addition there could be a sentence writing activity relating to the spelling list.
Spellings will be sent home on Fridays and should be learned for a test the following Friday.
PE takes place on Monday and Friday, all children will require a PE kit, which forms part of the school uniform. Swimming will take place during the summer term.
This is an important activity that supports learning in a variety of curriculum areas such as maths and science. We ask for a contribution towards these activities of £7 per annum per child.
Weekly school newsletters are available on the newsletters page of this website.
If there is anything you are unsure about PLEASE ASK. We have an open door policy at Charlbury School.
We hold two Parent Consultation evenings in November and March where you will receive detailed feedback about your child's progress and can discuss any concerns you may have. In July parents receive a full school report.
At the beginning of terms 1, 3 & 5 every class opens its classroom between 3pm and 4pm for parents and carers to come into school to talk to the class teacher and visit the classroom. This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions and pass on any information to the class teacher. Meeting dates and times will be notified through the school newsletter nearer the time.
