We like to develop independence, so please encourage your child to deal with their own coats, bags, lunch boxes, water bottles etc., and to put away their own book bags before sitting down ready for the register. We are always around first thing in the morning if you need to talk to us urgently, and please do not hesitate to come in at the end of school if you need a longer discussion, or make an appointment with the school office.
Reading daily at home is our number one priority in Year 2. Your child will have a reading diary in which all reading, either at home or at school, can be recorded. Please ensure your child changes his or her book regularly and feel free to help them to do so.
Spellings will be sent home on Fridays and should be learned for a test the following Friday.
Maths homework is to learn the number facts we are working on for our Maths Clubs on Fridays. Other maths sheets are sent home to reinforce the previous week's teaching.
This activity continues in Year 2 in a reduced form every Friday afternoon.
PE takes place on Monday and Wednesday. PE kit forms part of the school uniform.
These are important activities that supports learning in a variety of curriculum areas such as maths, literacy and science. We ask for a contribution towards these activities of £7 per annum per child.
Weekly school newsletters are available on the newsletters page of this website.
If there is anything you are unsure about PLEASE ASK. We have an open door policy at Charlbury School.
We hold two Parent Consultation evenings in November and March where you will receive detailed feedback about your child's progress and can discuss any concerns you may have. In July parents receive a full school report.
At the beginning of terms 1, 3 & 5 every class opens its classroom between 3pm and 4pm for parents and carers to come into school to talk to the class teacher and visit the classroom. This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions and pass on any information to the class teacher. Meeting dates and times will be notified through the school newsletter nearer the time.
