Pupils in Year 5 have almost reached the top of the school; secondary school is fast approaching. Year 5 is the start of the process of getting ready for the move. The main aims of the year are for your child to be more independent and more responsible for their learning and behaviour.
Mrs Managhan is the class teacher. Mrs Butler is the Teaching Assistant. We also receive help from Miss Pratley (Art and Design Technology).
Pupils in Year 5 have a homework diary in which they need to record all of their homework for the week. Homework will be given out on a Monday and should be handed in on a Friday morning. Every Thursday the class will have a spelling test and on a Tuesday they complete a maths challenge test.
PE is on a Tuesday and Thursday. Pupils will need their kit in school at all times. A pair of trainers is very useful for PE, particularly when we go outside. In the summer term we will be swimming at Chipping Norton Leisure Centre. There will be a voluntary contribution charge to help with transport costs.
Weekly school newsletters are available on the newsletter page of this website.
If there is anything you are unsure about PLEASE ASK. We have an open door policy at Charlbury School.
We hold two Parent Consultation evenings in November and March where you will receive detailed feedback about your child's progress and can discuss any concerns you may have. In July parents receive a full school report.
At the beginning of terms 1, 3 & 5 every class opens its classroom between 3pm and 4pm for parents and carers to come into school to talk to the class teacher and visit the classroom. This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions and pass on any information to the class teacher. Meeting dates and times will be notified through the school newsletter nearer the time.
