We seem to be having a real issue with Head Lice throughout the school, please use the summer holidays as an opportunity to thoroughly check your child’s hair. We would ask that everyone check their child’s hair, even if your child is not complaining of an itchy scalp. The NHS website below has information, which may be useful to you.

Summer Reading Challenge 2017
From 15th July to 16th September children across Oxfordshire can join the Animal Agents for the Summer Reading Challenge 2017. These furry, slippery and scaly friends are specially trained to use their skills and natural instincts to unravel mysteries with a huge helping of fun on the way!
Children will be encouraged to read at least six library books of their choice over the summer holidays. As the children read they collect stickers (some smelly!) to help narrow down the suspects and once they crack the case they will be rewarded with a wristband, medal and certificate.
Our aim is to encourage children to have fun reading over the long summer holiday and to give them free access to our wide range of books.
Over 8400 Oxfordshire children took part in last year’s Summer Reading Challenge. It would be great if we can reach more children this year!
It’s fun! It’s free! It’s local!

Recycling at Riverside Festival, 29/30 July
The free, volunteer-run Riverside Festival takes place over the last weekend of July and as usual we'd like to have children from the school involved.
Last year we collected over half a ton of commercial recycling (plastic, aluminium, paper and cardboard), 200 kilos of food waste, with only 6 bin bags of rubbish going to landfill. That's from the thousands of people who came!
This year we want to do the same, in fact we want to do better. That's where you can help. We need lots of people to collect the rubbish, sort it while they are going along and put it in the right bins. And to show everyone else at the festival how to do it properly so they can help us as well.
What we need is about 15-20 children working in teams of two or three. Teams do one or two shifts, taking it in turns round the festival, picking, sorting and helping other people.
Recyclers are supplied with the the tools of the trade: Gloves, high vis jacket, and litter picker. And in return they receive free food and drink and a free Riverside Tshirt at the end!
Please contact Russell Robson if your child is interested. And if s/he has a friend they would like to pair up with that would be helpful to know in advance

The Charlbury Community Centre Appeal are running a stall at this year's Wilderness Festival, selling pre-loved gorgeous clothes, festival wear, vintage finds, fancy dress ideas, brightly coloured and quirky cloths and good warm jumpers!! If you have any of these items to donate please bring into school next week and give to Sarah Brooks, year 2 (any extra will go to charity or homeless shelters, so nothing will be wasted). Thank you.
